Yao Mingshan

Yao Mingshan is the wife of Wang Qishan, a senior leader of the Chinese Communist Party. In 1969, Wang was sent to Yan’an as part of the “sent-down youth” movement. During this period, he met Yao Mingshan, who was also working there as a youth sent to the countryside. The two fell in love and later married.

Known for her low profile, Yao Mingshan has rarely appeared in public and has long been regarded as a supportive partner throughout Wang Qishan’s political career. Now retired, she leads a relatively quiet and private life, consistent with her discreet character.
