Introduction
Uichi Naito (Naitō Yōichirō, June 25, 1900 – date of death unknown) was a Japanese businessman primarily engaged in the rental building industry. He was born in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture. He graduated from Fukuoka Prefectural Chūgakushuyūkan in 1921 and was active as a judo practitioner during his student days.
His career was varied; he joined Ōbayashi Corporation in 1924. Subsequently, in 1934, he became the chief of the Fukuoka branch and head of general affairs, and in 1940, he was appointed General Affairs Director at the Keijo (Seoul) branch. In 1943, he became Managing Director of Kyushu Joint Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in Kokura Ward, and in 1944, he served as General Affairs Director of Kyushu Coal Mining New Mine. After the war, in 1946, he became Vice President of the Iwasaki Group, and in 1949, he was appointed founding President of Naito Construction.
In addition, in 1950, he formed the Prefectural Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association Federation and served as its chairman. That same year, he was elected as a director of the Japan Parent-Teacher Association National Council and also served as chairman of the Prefectural School Lunch Promotion Council.
In terms of business, in 1966, he changed the company name to Naitō Building and continued to serve as its President and Director. Religiously, he was a follower of Jōdo Shinshū Buddhism.
His family lived in Daimyo, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture. He lived with his wife Raku. Their children included eldest son Masamichi, eldest daughter Yōko (married to painter Akiji Nonomiyama), second daughter Hiroko (manager of Fukuoka Ballet School), second son Yūsaku, third son Takehide Naitō (a journalist at Mainichi Shimbun), and fourth son Tsunehiro.
Family members include his third son Takehide Naitō, as well as notable grandchildren such as manga artist Eiki Kageki and musician DAIGO (real name: Daitaro Naitō).
