Introduction
Chongjian Wang Zhu Jianzé (May 2, 1455 – August 27, 1505) was a member of the Ming Dynasty imperial family. He was the sixth illegitimate son of Emperor Yingzong and his consort, Empress Dowager Zhou. He was a half-brother to Emperor Xianzong. In the first year of the Tianshun era (1457), he was granted the title of Prince of Chong. In the tenth year of the Chenghua era (1474), he was enfeoffed at Runing Prefecture. He passed away in the eighteenth year of the Hongzhi era (1505) at the age of 51. He reigned as prince for a continuous 49 years. Posthumously, his title was given the character "Jian" (meaning simple). Three years after his death, his eldest legitimate son, Zhu Youmian, succeeded the title.
Regarding his family, the wife of Prince Chongjian was Lady Yu, the daughter of Yu Xin, commander of the Nancheng militia. She was granted the title in the fourth day of the sixth month of the seventh year of Chenghua (1471) and died on the twenty-eighth day of the tenth month of the tenth year of Chenghua (1474). His second wife, who was a concubine, was the daughter of Li Xian, commander of the Chenzhou Guards. His children included his eldest illegitimate son, Zhu Youhuan, who was titled Prince Gongjian of Ruizhou; his second legitimate son, Zhu Youmian, who was titled Prince of Chongjing; and another illegitimate son, Zhu Youkui, who was titled Prince Rongkang of Qingyuan, as well as at least four daughters.
