Qian Yimin was born in 1912 into a poor peasant family in Xinfeng, Jiangxi Province. In 1929, he joined the Communist Party of China and participated in the Xinfeng Peasant Uprising and the Zhangzhou Students Movement. After joining the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army, he held various positions as a political commissar and took part in five anti-encirclement campaigns in the Central Soviet Area as well as the Long March. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, he served as the head of the Security Department of the Eighth Route Army and later as Deputy Minister of the Clandestine Suppression Department of the Shaanxi-Gan-Ning-Jin Sui Defensive Army. In the Liberation War, he was the Minister of the Security Department of the Northeast Field Army and the Fourth Field Army, participating in key battles such as Liaoshen and Pingjin. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he held positions including Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Public Security, President of the Hubei Provincial Higher People's Court, and Deputy Minister of the Department of Transportation. During the Cultural Revolution, he was persecuted. Subsequently, he served as Deputy Director of the National Defense Industry Office. He retired in 1985 and passed away in 1997.
