Introduction

Noble Consort Xun (29 October 1758 – 10 January 1798), of the Manchu Bordered Blue Banner Irgen Gioro clan, was a consort of the Qianlong Emperor. She was born during the Qianlong era in the 23rd year of his reign, corresponding to 1758. Her personal name has not been recorded.

Family Background:

Her father was Guilin, who served as the Viceroy of Liangguang from 1778 to 1780. Her paternal grandfather was Henian, who held the same position from 1757 to 1758. Both her father and grandfather were members of the Irgen Gioro clan, a Manchu clan holding noble status within the Bordered Blue Banner.

Life and Titles:

Lady Irgen Gioro entered the Forbidden City on 28 December 1776, when she was granted the title "Concubine Xun" by the Qianlong Emperor. The specific date when she was demoted to "Noble Lady" is unknown. She was restored to the rank of "Concubine Xun" on 14 November 1779. Later, in December 1794 or January 1795, she was elevated to the rank of "Consort Xun."

During the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1735–1796), her titles evolved as follows:

- From 29 October 1758, she was known simply as Lady Irgen Gioro.

- On 28 December 1776, she received the title "Concubine Xun" (fifth rank consort).

- At some point, she was designated as "Noble Lady" (sixth rank consort), although the date is unspecified.

- On 14 November 1779, she was restored to "Concubine Xun."

- By December 1794 or January 1795, she attained the rank of "Consort Xun" (fourth rank consort).

During the Jiaqing era, after the death of the Qianlong Emperor in 1796, she was posthumously elevated to "Noble Consort Xun" by the Jiaqing Emperor, his son. The Jiaqing Emperor arranged a funeral consistent with the status of a Noble Consort, which was a high-ranking position among the imperial consorts.

Death:

Noble Consort Xun died on 10 January 1798, during the reign of the Jiaqing Emperor. Her posthumous title was "Noble Consort Xun."
