Albinia Selwyn was the wife of Thomas Townshend and lived during the early 18th century. She was the daughter of Thomas Pelham, 1st Baron Pelham, an English politician, and Elizabeth Pelham, born in 1681 and deceased in 1711. Her grandfather was Thomas Pelham, 1st Baron Pelham, and her great-grandfather was Thomas Pelham-Holles, the 1st Duke of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, who served as Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1693 to 1768.
