Introduction

Fuyanggu, born in the 1640s and died in the 1710s, was from the Ulanala clan and of Manchu Plain Yellow Banner origin. His father was Bohuqa, who held the position of Zuo Ling (administrative officer). Fuyanggu's wife was from the Aisin Gioro clan, a Doro Gege (a noble lady of high status). They had one daughter, who became the Empress Xiaojingxian, consort of the Qing Emperor Yongzheng.

Under the edict of Qing Taizong Emperor Huang Taiji, Fuyanggu entered the palace as a Biyue Zuo Ling (a personal attendant to the imperial family), was raised within the inner court, and later was promoted to Third Rank Guards. Due to his military merits, he was appointed Chief Supervisor of the Imperial Household Department. Subsequently, he returned to the Manchu Plain Yellow Banner, served as a First Rank Infantry Commander, and was granted the title Yunqiyu (a hereditary honor). He was then promoted to Inner Court Guard Minister.

In the first year of Yongzheng (1723, March), in honor of the Empress Xiaojingxian's father, Fuyanggu was posthumously granted the title of First Rank Duke, was paid respects once, and his tomb was renovated. His descendants then inherited the title of First Rank Marquis. In the eighth year of Yongzheng (1730, September), he was further posthumously promoted to First Rank Earl with the honor of Cheng'en Gong.

Regarding family lineage, his father Bohuqa was a Zuo Ling of the Plain Yellow Banner. The "Eight Banners Manchu Clan Records" state that his ancestral home and genealogy trace back to Bohuqa, who was from the Plain Yellow Banner, directly descended from Du'erxi Changzi Eheshanggu, and was a long-time resident of Ula. The family returned to China following the Qing founding. His eldest son Nomuqi also served as a Zuo Ling; his second son, Fuyanggu, followed Qing Taizong’s orders to enter the palace as a Zuo Ling, was raised in the inner court, and later awarded the Third Rank Guards. Fuyanggu’s elder brother was Nomuqi, who also originally served as a Zuo Ling.

Fuyanggu’s wife was from the Aisin Gioro clan; her father was the imperial clan member Muru, and her grandfather was Doro Anping Beile Dudu. His eldest son Xingchan initially served as Vice Commander of the Metropolitan Commander; his second son Fuchang served as a Second Rank Guard; his fourth son Wuge inherited the title of First Rank Duke and held positions as a Sanzhi Dachen (a court official) and Zuo Ling. Wuge also served as the Fourth Battalion Leader of the Manchu Plain Yellow Banner and the Twelfth Zuo Ling. The "Imperially Approved Eight Banners Gazetteer" also records these details. Wuge’s son, Defu, held the positions of Minister of Justice and General of Jingzhou. His granddaughter, Ulanala, married a Manchu of the Zhengbai Banner and served as Governor A Sida. Their son Nayan became a jinshi (advanced graduate) in the sixth year of Qianlong (1789, Ji You year). Another son-in-law of Fuyanggu was a direct descendant of Empress Xiaojingxian, the wife of Qing Emperor Yongzheng, further strengthening the familial ties between the Fuyanggu family and the imperial dynasty.
