Lai Xiaopeng, born in the 1950s, has a family background with significant military and revolutionary history. His father, Lai Zhuanzhu, served as the Chief of Staff of the New Fourth Army and as the First Deputy Minister of the General Cadre Department of the People's Liberation Army. In 1955, he was awarded the rank of Senior General of the People's Liberation Army. From an early age, Lai Xiaopeng was influenced by his family's revolutionary spirit.
In 1961, Lai Xiaopeng was admitted to the Naval Academy of the People's Liberation Army, beginning his military career. After graduation, he worked in the naval fleet, holding positions such as missile destroyer captain and fleet chief of staff, actively participating in the modernization of the Chinese Navy. His service lasted until 1997, when he served as a researcher in the Military History Research Department of the Military Academy, holding the rank of colonel.
After retirement, Lai Xiaopeng shifted his focus to the study and inheritance of revolutionary history. He served as an executive director of the Chinese New Fourth Army Research Association, participating in the collection and research of New Fourth Army historical materials. Additionally, he is the vice chairman of the Beijing New Fourth Army Research Association, organizing academic seminars and commemorative activities, as well as the vice president of the Beijing Yan'an Children and Youth Friendship Association, involved in organizing activities for the descendants of revolutionaries.
In terms of social roles, he has served as the honorary president of the Yancheng Chamber of Commerce in Guangdong Province, promoting economic and cultural exchanges in revolutionary old areas. In the academic field, Lai Xiaopeng mainly engaged in military history research at the Military History Research Department of the Military Academy of Sciences. Through oral history collection, artifact donations, and other methods, he has provided valuable historical materials for institutions such as the Chinese Revolution Military Museum and the New Fourth Army Memorial Hall.
