Mary Cholmley was the daughter of Lady Anne Compton, who was the daughter of Spencer Compton, the 2nd Earl of Northampton. Spencer Compton, the 2nd Earl, was the son of James Compton, the 3rd Earl of Northampton, an English politician. The 3rd Earl of Northampton’s father was Spencer Compton, the 1st Earl of Wilmington, who served as Prime Minister of Great Britain. Lady Anne Compton died in 1705, and Mary Cholmley lived from 1667 to 1687.
