Introduction

Liu Bocheng, born in 1892, was a renowned Chinese military strategist and revolutionary. He married Cheng Yizhi in 1910; at that time, Liu was only 18 years old, and Cheng was 16. The couple had a son named Liu Juntao, born in 1912. Cheng Yizhi took primary responsibility for the family until her death in 1957.

In 1927, Liu Bocheng participated in the Nanchang Uprising, an important armed insurrection led by the Chinese Communist Party, which had significant influence on China's revolutionary history. After the uprising, Liu Bocheng briefly resided in Shanghai, where he experienced a notable family incident. His son, Liu Juntao, lacking education and self-management skills, once demanded money from Liu Bocheng alongside a companion described as a “profligate woman.” Liu Bocheng reprimanded his son; however, in a moment of anger, Liu Juntao ran to the police station to report his father’s behavior. Fortunately, Liu Bocheng had been alert to potential issues and ultimately avoided a probable conflict.

Liu Juntao passed away in 1969 in his hometown. There are no publicly recorded major achievements or events in his life beyond this. Regarding Liu Bocheng’s family life, aside from his marriage to Cheng Yizhi and information about their children, details are limited. Liu Bocheng is mainly celebrated for his contributions to military and political fields, with little detailed information publicly available about his family members.
