Introduction

Yongjing, of the Aisin Gioro clan, was a prince of the Qing Dynasty and the thirteenth son of Emperor Qianlong. There are discrepancies in historical records regarding his birth date; the most common account states he was born on the twenty-first day of the twelfth month of the twenty-ninth year of Qianlong's reign (1754). Some sources list his birth date as January 22, 1756, in the Gregorian calendar. His mother was the second Empress Dowager Nala. Yongjing was a full brother to Yongqi, who was also born of Nala.

Yongjing's lifespan was brief; he reportedly lived only 19 months, dying on the twenty-fourth day of the seventh month in the twenty-second year of Qianlong's reign (1757). The cause of death is not specified in the texts. His remains were interred within the Zhu Hua Mountain Duan Hui Crown Prince Tomb.

The Duan Hui Crown Prince Tomb is part of the royal mausoleum system, containing three subterranean tombs. The central tomb is that of Crown Prince Duan Hui. To the east is a stone-vaulted tomb housing three individuals: in the center, the co-royal, same-mother brother—Prince Dao Min—and to the east and west are the ninth and tenth sons of the emperor. The western tomb is the simplest, constructed with brick vaults containing three individuals: in the center, the Thirteenth Prince (Yongjing), with the fourteenth and sixteenth princes to the sides. The layout and partitioning of these tombs reflect the arrangement of different subterranean chambers within the same mausoleum complex.

The information presented in this entry is based on the "Qing Imperial Clan Four Volumes." It does not include evaluative commentary on the individuals' lives, but only records related genealogical and mausoleum information.
