Xu Aizhou, courtesy name Guoren, was one of the late ship owners. He was born in Bolicun, Potou, Wuchuan County, Guangdong Province (now Potou Town, Potou District, Zhanjiang City) and grew up in Guangzhou Bay (now Zhanjiang), a French colonial territory. After graduating from elementary school, he engaged in commerce with his father, establishing "Futaihao," which specialized in peanuts, oil, and other grains and groceries.
He opened stores such as "Renhehao," "Guanghongtai," and "Tianyuanhao" in Wuchuan, Chikan, Xiashan, and Naozhou. In Hong Kong, he established "Guanghongtai," which distributed ramie and garlic, imported foreign goods, and dealt in products including peanut oil, kerosene, seafood, and more, becoming a wealthy merchant of his time.
