Kotaro Koizumi

Koizumi Kotaro was born on April 10, 1978, in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, and is part of Japan’s entertainment industry. As the fourth son of the prestigious Koizumi family, a prominent political dynasty in Japan, he has a family background with considerable political influence. His great-grandfather, Koizumi Yūjirō, served as Minister of Posts; his grandfather, Koizumi Junsuke, was a Director-General of the Defense Agency; and his father is former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.

Koizumi Kotaro attended Nihon University for his education but suspended his studies in August 2001 to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. He was passionate about sports during childhood, often practicing catch with his father. During school, he was a member of the school baseball team. In the spring of 2000, he secretly participated in the "Search for the 21st Century’s Ishihara Yujiro" talent audition held by Ishihara Talent Agency, but he was eliminated in the semi-finals.

His acting career began in 2002 with his first appearance in the television drama "First Experience," where he played the character Ayumu Takanashi.
