Introduction

Chen Biying, born in the early 20th century, was an important early member of the Communist Party of China. At the end of 1930, she was dispatched by the Party organization to undertake underground work in Tingzhou City, Fujian Province. The following year, she served as the Minister of Propaganda for the Tingzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party. During this period, Chen Biying actively participated in Party propaganda and organizational work, providing support for underground activities.

In 1933, Chen Biying married Dong Bihou. Dong Bihou was one of the important leaders of the Chinese Communist Party and played a key role in multiple revolutionary movements. After their marriage, the two maintained a cooperative relationship, working together to advance the Party's cause.

On October 10, 1934, the Red Army began the Long March. On the eve of the march, due to failing a health examination, Chen Biying was not permitted to march with the troops. She accompanied Dong Bihou for three days and nights. After the end of the Long March, the two parted ways. Following organizational arrangements, Chen Biying went to Xingmeishan in Pingxi, Guangdong, to persist in underground struggle. During the battles of the Central Red Army, as enemy-occupied areas expanded, it became difficult for the organization to maintain operations locally. In March 1935, Chen Biying returned to her old family home in Bakou, Lechang, Guangdong.

After returning to her hometown, Chen Biying initially lived with her mother. Her mother hoped she would go to Hunan to find the Red Army and Dong Bihou, encouraging her to continue her revolutionary work. However, as the situation worsened with Kuomintang troops stationed in rural areas, the circumstances became increasingly difficult. Facing safety concerns and social pressure, at the age of twenty-five or twenty-six, Chen Biying married Yan Xiudao, a poor, unmarried peasant. Yan Xiudao was nearly forty at the time and had not been married.

In October 1960, Dong Bihou and his wife, He Lianzhi, returned to Ruijin, Jiangxi. During this period, Dong Bihou attempted to locate Chen Biying, but according to investigations by relevant authorities, she was living in a remote mountain village, and her exact whereabouts could not be determined.

In July 1983, Chen Biying fell ill and was bedridden at the age of 74. By that time, Dong Bihou had been deceased for eight years. Details of her subsequent life and the circumstances of her death have not been disclosed.
