Introduction
Consort Yu (1730–1774), of the Mongol Oirat Borjigin clan, was an imperial consort of the Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty. She was born in 1730, although her exact birth date is not documented. She was raised in Mongolia and entered the Forbidden City in 1757 as a palace maid.
In 1758, she received the title "Noble Lady Duo" (多貴人). The following year, in 1759, she became pregnant but suffered a miscarriage. As a result, she was promoted to "Imperial Concubine Yu" (豫嬪). In 1764, she was further elevated to the title of "Consort Yu" (豫妃), a rank she maintained until her death. She died in 1774, at the age of approximately 43 or 44 years old. No posthumous titles or honors were bestowed upon her.
Throughout her life, she held several titles corresponding to different periods of the Qing imperial court: starting as Lady Borjigin during the reign of the Yongzheng Emperor (1722–1735), then as a palace maid in 1757, Noble Lady Duo in 1758, Imperial Concubine Yu in 1759, and ultimately as Consort Yu from 1764 onward.
