Introduction
Mianxing (1814–1879), of the Aisin Gioro clan, was a member of the Qing imperial family. He was the sixth son of Prince Qingxi, Yonglin, the 17th son of Emperor Qianlong. After his father Yonglin’s death, his elder brother Mianmin inherited the title; upon Mianmin’s death, his adoptive son Yicai inherited the title. In the 22nd year of Daoguang (1842), in October, Yicai took a concubine during a period of mourning. Mianxing, coveting the prince’s title, engaged in bribery. The scandal was exposed, and Yicai was stripped of his title. Mianxing was stationed in Shengjing (Shenyang) as a guard. In the 4th year of Xianfeng (1865), in October, Mianxing was dismissed and exiled to Jilin, having already been removed from his official duties as Aksu steward; he subsequently returned to his banner.
