Introduction

Empress Dowager Zhao Jinghui, also known as Consort Wang Hui, her birth and death dates are unknown, and her given name has been lost to history. She was the daughter of Wang Shouzhi, a fifth-rank officer of the Ming Dynasty's Imperial Guard with a paid position. Empress Dowager Zhao was one of the consorts of Emperor Jiajing (Zhū Huòzhèng), and she bore a royal daughter, Princess Siru (Zhū Fuyuan).

On April 11, the sixteenth year of Jiajing (1537), she was selected to enter the Yan Ting (Imperial Antechamber), and her father Wang Shouzhi was appointed as a fifth-rank officer of the Imperial Guard with paid benefits. On the seventeenth of the same month, Emperor Jiajing officially bestowed her the title of Hui Pin (Viscountess).

On January 14 of the seventeenth year of Jiajing (1538), Consort Wang Hui gave birth to her second royal daughter, Princess Siru. On January 6, the nineteenth year of Jiajing (1540), during the memorial ritual for the death of Concubine Yan Gui, the emperor issued a decree to enshrine and promote the consorts as recorded in the imperial archives on the tenth of that month. On January 10, Consort Wang Hui was promoted to Hui Fei (Viscountess of Hui).

By July 8, the thirtieth year of Jiajing (1551), she was rewarded with silver amounting to 530 taels for her father Wang Qing and her mother Zhao’s funeral rites. Empress Dowager Zhao Jinghui passed away on September 4, 1577; her age at death is unknown. Emperor Wanli discontinued court attendance for two days following her death. She was buried at the knot of the Jinshan Fengyu in Beijing.

According to the "Continuation of the Records of the Grand Aerarium" (Ta Chang Xu Kao), she was one of the consorts buried together in the same tomb along with Empress Dowager Zhang De, Noble Consort Wang Zhuang, Consort Wei Hui, Noble Consort Chen Chang, Noble Consort Li Chang, and Noble Consort Wang Yu.
