Introduction

King Deyi Zhu Yourong was born in 1471 and died in 1539. He was the legitimate second son of King Zhuang Zhu Jianlin of the Ming Dynasty and the second-generation King of Deyi. His father, Zhu Jianlin, was the eldest son of Emperor Zhuang of Ming, establishing the father-son relationship. Zhu Yourong was granted the title of King of Deyi in the sixteenth year of Zhengde (1521), and he reigned for eighteen years. Specific administrative records during his reign are not detailed.

Zhu Yourong's mother was Lady Xue, the eldest daughter of Grand Scholar Xue Ji. Lady Xue was granted the title of Deyi Princess Consort in December of the fourteenth year of Hongzhi (1501). Zhu Yourong had multiple sons; his eldest son died early. His other sons included the second son Zhu Houtun, the third son Zhu Houji, the fifth son Zhu Huoqi, the seventh son Zhu Huoer, and the eighth son Zhu Houke. Among them, Zhu Houtun was posthumously honored as Dehuai Wang (Deyi King), later became King of Dongping, and ultimately held the title Dehuai Wang; he died early without issue. Zhu Houji was granted the title of Licheng Ronghe Wang; Zhu Huoer was titled Linqu Rongjian Wang; Zhu Huoke was King of Gaotang Youxi. The details of the other sons' actions are not recorded.

Zhu Yourong died in the eighteenth year of Jiajing (1539), with the posthumous name Yi. His eldest son Zhu Houtun died early, and subsequently his grandson Zhu Zaidi inherited the title.
