Babuhai

Babuhai (Manchu: ᠪᠠᠪᡠᡥᠠᡳ, transliteration: Babuhai; 1596–1643), the eleventh son of Nurhaci, born to his consort Jiamu Huo Jueru. He was born on the twenty-eighth day of the eleventh month of the 24th year of the Ming Dynasty's Wanli era (November 1596). Initially appointed as a bull recorder zhangjing, in the eighth year of Tianciong (1634), he was promoted to a first-class Jahala zhangjing. He once accompanied his elder brother, General Zhangguo Abu, in temple offerings, and because he conducted ancestral sacrifices involving cattle and used cattle sacrifices to compensate residents, he became involved in legal disputes with the locals. After three tens of silver coins were used to compensate the residents, they remained dissatisfied. Hong Taiji accused him of being foolish and dull, attributing his actions to being influenced by his wife, who was the daughter of Yangguli.

In the fourth year of Chongde (1639), he was appointed as Miele Ejen (a noble title) and granted the rank of General Zhangguo. In the seventh year of Chongde (1642), due to reckless speech, he was falsely accused by Gushan Ejen Tan Tai, who sentenced him to death. Hong Taiji pardoned him, only stripping him of his noble title.

In the eighth year of Chongde (1643), after the Kangxi Emperor ascended the throne, Babuhai was implicated in instigating a letter to the first-class duke, Tazhan, to attack Tan Tai. An internal monitor (imperial servant) arrested Babuhai for interrogation. Babuhai did not admit to the charges. He, his wife, and their son Akhala were all executed by beheading, and their family property was confiscated and given to Tan Tai. In the ninth year of Shunzhi (1652), after Tan Tai was executed, his descendants and inheritance were returned to his brother Babutai’s family.
