Prince Alexander John of Wales (6 April 1871 – 7 April 1871) was the youngest child of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII), and Alexandra of Denmark, Princess of Wales.
He was born prematurely at 2:45 p.m. on 6 April 1871. Due to his fragile condition, he was christened privately on the evening of his birth by Reverend W. Lake Onslow. Present at the christening were his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, a lady-in-waiting, and the attending doctor.
Tragically, Prince Alexander John survived for only about 24 hours. He passed away the next day, on 7 April 1871. His brief life was marked by the sorrow of a royal family who had hoped for his survival but instead mourned his early death.
Though his life was short, Prince Alexander John of Wales is remembered as part of the extended family of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, who had many descendants across Europe’s royal houses.
