Cong Jun (also known as Chen Shanshan), female, born in 1950, is the daughter of Marshal Chen Yi and Zhang Qian. She is one of China's few female ambassadors and is the wife of Wang Guangya. She has served as a translator and director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the Chinese ambassador to Estonia and a counselor with the rank of envoy at the United Nations.
Cong Jun attended Beijing Foreign Languages Institute High School in her early years. In 1972, with the approval of Premier Zhou Enlai, she studied languages at the London School of Economics in the UK. Later, she went to the United States to pursue a master's degree in international relations. Her diplomatic career includes important positions such as translator and ambassador, making significant contributions to China's foreign diplomacy.
In 1977, after the death of her mother, Cong Jun married Wang Guangya, with her elder brother Chen Haosu and others helping to arrange the wedding in accordance with her mother’s will. In 2017, as a family representative, Cong Jun donated her father Chen Yi's collection of books and documents to Fudan University. The collection includes 1,385 Chinese and foreign language books, 68 photo albums, and inscribed plaques by Ye Jianying, covering multiple languages and fields. These valuable materials have become important resources for research on Chen Yi’s history.
