Isaac Gouverneur

Isaac Gouverneur, who lived from before 1677 to 1728, was the ancestor of a lineage that includes Samuel Gouverneur, who lived from 1720 to 1778, and his descendants. Samuel Gouverneur was the father of Nicholas Gouverneur, who lived from 1753 to 1802, and Nicholas was the father of Samuel L. Gouverneur, an American politician. Samuel L. Gouverneur was married to Maria Hester Monroe Gouverneur, the daughter of James Monroe, who served as the President of the United States from 1817 to 1825.
