Introduction
Sachiyo Kaifu (born April 30, 1933) is the wife of a Japanese politician and the spouse of Toshiro Kaifu, who served as the 76th and 77th Prime Minister of Japan. She hails from Mino City, Gifu Prefecture (formerly Musashi District, Mino Town).
Her educational background includes graduating from Kanazawa Gakuin Junior College, and it is believed that she graduated from that institution or its sister schools.
In terms of her career, she worked as an assistant at the office of Congressman Saburo Yanagihara of the Japan Democratic Party. During this period, she met Toshiro Kaifu, who was serving as the secretary to Kinsho Kono, and they married in 1955.
In 1960, her husband Toshiro Kaifu was elected to the House of Representatives, making her a politician’s wife.
Her husband served as Prime Minister from August 10, 1989, to November 5, 1991, during which she served as First Lady for about two years.
Additionally, due to her name "Sachiyo," she was occasionally compared to Jiang Qing, Mao Zedong's wife and a prominent figure in Chinese Communist Party history, and referred to as "Kosei-fu-jin" (Mrs. Kosei). While this analogy has been mentioned in the media, no detailed information is provided.
