Introduction
Mu Yang'a, born in 1782, date of death unknown, styled Gengshan and Gengshan, was a Manchu Bannerman of the Esang Num (Inner Banner), of the Niohuru clan. He was the father of Empress Dowager Cixi and an external relative of the late Qing Dynasty.
Biographical Overview
- Served as an official in the Youjiang Circuit of Guangxi.
- On September 11, 1862 (the eighth day of the eighth month in the first year of the Tongzhi Emperor), he was posthumously awarded the title of Third Rank Cheng'en Gong (Duke of Appreciation), with the posthumous honor "Rongjing" (Reverence and Respect). On the same day, his ancestor Ceputan was posthumously awarded the same title and honor, with the posthumous name "Duankun" (Diligence and Faith), and his father Fukujing'a was also posthumously awarded the title and honor, with the posthumous name "Duandong" (Diligence and Sensitive).
