Introduction
Prince Gong'en Fuguo Hongyan (Róng, 1737–1806), of the Qing imperial clan. His mother was Mistress Zuo, of the Zhang clan, daughter of Zhang Cunren. Hongyan was the eighth son of Prince Zhuang Yunzhi and the father of Yongfan. He was born on the ninth day of the seventh lunar month in the Dingsi Year of the Qianlong reign (roughly August 1737), during the hour of辰 (7-9 a.m.).
In 1767, he succeeded his nephew Yongyao to become Fuguo Duke, inheriting the peerage system associated with the Prince Zhuang Yunzhi lineage. During his career, he served as a Right Zongren of the Court of Imperial Clan Affairs and as a Mongol commander of the Plain Blue Banner, among other official roles. He held various positions in military and clan affairs, with specific titles recorded in official documents.
In 1756, he was awarded the rank of second-class General of Imperial Guards. In 1767, he was promoted to Fuguo Duke, entering the peerage inheritance system associated with the Prince Zhuang lineage. He died on the thirteenth day of the tenth month of the Bǐngyín Year (October 1806) at the hour of 卯 (5-7 p.m.), at the age of seventy.
Family details: His primary wife was Lady Zhang of the Zhangjiazhen clan, daughter of the Grand Secretary and virtuous, brave A Gui. He also had two wives from the Wang clan, daughters of the second-class Guards Qi Chen and the third-class Guards Huai Bao, respectively; and a concubine from the Sun clan, daughter of Sun Xiang, a Captain of the Imperial Guard.
His offspring were as follows:
- Eldest son Yongfan, legally recognized, served as Fuguo General.
- Second son Yong’e, legally recognized, served as Fengguo General.
- Third son Yongzhi, a third-class Guardsman.
- Fourth son Yongtu, served as Fengguo General.
- Fifth son Yonghui, a third-class Guardsman.
