Introduction

(Archibald) Ronald Primrose, Lord Dalmeny, was born on 1 August 1910 in London. He was the son of Harry Primrose, 6th Earl of Rosebery. Known by his second forename, Ronald, he was styled Lord Dalmeny as the heir apparent to his father's earldom.

Primrose received his education at Eton College and later attended New College, Oxford. During his time at Eton, he participated in the annual cricket match against Harrow at Lord’s Cricket Ground in 1928. He also played cricket for Middlesex County and made a single appearance for Oxford University.

His cricketing career included three first-class matches played between 1929 and 1931. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler. Specific performance records from these matches are available through cricket archives.
