Rong Yanren, courtesy name Yanzeng, was the fifth son of the renowned Chinese industrialist Rong Desheng and a member of the influential Rong family of Wuxi. The Rong family, known as the 'Red Capitalists,' played a major role in China’s modern flour and textile industries, with enterprises spanning Wuxi, Shanghai, and Hankou.
As one of Rong Desheng’s sons, Rong Yanren belonged to the second generation of the family’s core leadership, alongside his brothers Rong Weiren, Rong Erren, Rong Yiren, Rong Jiren, and Rong Hongren.
Although detailed records of his personal life and career are scarce, Rong Yanren grew up during the period of rapid expansion of China’s national industries and witnessed the pivotal role that the Rong family played in shaping the country’s economy and society.
