Introduction
Mantuhu, born in 1674 and died in 1731, was the second son of Prince Kang of the First Rank, Yongning, the fifth son of Emperor Shizu (Kangxi Emperor). In the forty-second year of Kangxi’s reign (1703), his father Yongning passed away, and his younger brother Ha-shan inherited the title of Prince of the Second Rank (Beile). In the fifty-first year of Kangxi’s reign (1712), Ha-shan was demoted due to indulging in misconduct of an eunuch and was dismissed from his title, after which Mantuhu inherited the Beile title. Subsequently, Mantuhu repeatedly committed offenses. In the fourth year of Yongzheng’s reign (1726), he was demoted from his princely title to a Beizi (second peerage), and later further downgraded to Prince of the Town and State (Zhen Guogong). In the ninth year of Yongzheng’s reign (1731), Mantuhu passed away. After his death, he was succeeded by his grandson Feisu, the son of Ha-shan, as the Prince of the Second Rank.
