Introduction

Lady Margarita Elizabeth Rose Alleyne Armstrong-Jones was born on 14 May 2002 at Portland Hospital in London. She is the daughter of David Armstrong-Jones, 2nd Earl of Snowdon, and The Honourable Serena Stanhope. Her father was styled as Viscount Linley at the time of her birth. She is a granddaughter of Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, and Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon. Through her paternal lineage, she is a great-granddaughter of King George VI. On her mother's side, she is a granddaughter of Charles Stanhope, 12th Earl of Harrington, and a descendant of Charles II.

Her full birth name is Margarita Elizabeth Rose Alleyne Armstrong-Jones. She was named after her grandmother Princess Margaret and her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Her early childhood was spent living at three residences: a flat in Chelsea, London; a cottage on the Daylesford Estate in Gloucestershire; and Château d'Autet in France. As a member of the British royal family, her Christmases are spent at Sandringham House and summers at Balmoral Castle. Her father inherited the title of Earl of Snowdon in 2017, which affords her the courtesy title Lady Margarita. Her parents separated in 2020.

Regarding her education, Lady Margarita initially attended Garden House School, a private institution in Kensington and Chelsea. She later transferred to St Mary's School Ascot, a Catholic all-girls boarding school. Subsequently, she studied at Tudor Hall School in Oxfordshire, focusing on art history, jewellery design, and photography for her A-levels. In 2020, she enrolled at Oxford Brookes University, studying photography, before switching to event management during her second year as courses moved online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. She also took courses in life drawing, pottery, and watercolour painting at an art school in Oxford. In September 2022, she commenced studies at La Haute École de Joaillerie in Paris, specializing in jewellery design, stonesetting, and wax carving.

Her public appearances include attending royal events and support roles. In 2008, she participated in the wedding of Peter Phillips to Autumn Kelly and appeared with the royal family for photographs afterward. She accompanied her aunt, Lady Sarah Chatto, to the 60th birthday celebration of Charles, Prince of Wales. In 2011, she served as a bridesmaid at the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, alongside Lady Louise Windsor, Eliza Lopes, and Grace van Cutsem. Her elder brother, Viscount Linley, served as a page of honour during that event. During the wedding festivities, she was guided by Pippa Middleton, with whom she shared a carriage ride and seating during the service. She attended a Service of Thanksgiving for the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret at St George's Chapel in 2012.

Additional royal engagements include attending the weddings of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank in 2018, as well as the funeral of Prince Philip in 2021 and the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022. She was also present at the Coronation of Charles III and Camilla in May 2023. Other frequent royal-related events she attends include the Trooping of the Colour, Christmas services at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, and the Queen's Christmas Lunch at Buckingham Palace.

In her professional pursuits, Lady Margarita made her modelling debut in 2011 for Kids Company. In 2022, she worked for five months at Fiona Finds, an interior design shop in London. Her magazine work includes being featured as the cover girl for Tatler in May 2023, shot by Luc Braquet, and appearing in a spread displaying couture gowns. In September 2022, Lady Margarita relocated to Paris, where she rents a flat near the Bastille and lives with two friends.
