Ho Shiu-yiu (1886 – January 1, 1933), commonly known as Ho Yiu, was an important member of the prominent Ho Tung family in Hong Kong. He was the third son of Ho Fook and the uncle of renowned entrepreneur Stanley Ho.
Educated at Queen’s College, Hong Kong, he began his public career early and was appointed Director of Po Leung Kuk in 1913. In 1925, he was named a Justice of the Peace, reflecting his high standing in colonial Hong Kong society.
Throughout his career, Ho Shiu-yiu held many influential positions, including Chairman of the Sugar Merchants Association, Chairman of South China Athletic Association, Chinese Manager of Yau Lee Bank, Executive Director of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Committee Member of the Hong Kong Mercantile Union, Western Secretary of the Twenty-Four Trades Association, and Advisor to the Gold and Silver Exchange.
He passed away on the evening of New Year’s Day 1933 from pneumonia brought on by overwork, at the age of 47.
Ho Shiu-yiu married Ethel Zimmern (Shi Yanfang), the eldest daughter of Shi Bingguang, and together they had one son and two daughters. Their son, Ho Hung-chiu, later became a distinguished radiologist.
