Introduction
Frederic "Fritz" Robinson was born on October 11, 1746. He was the second son of Thomas Robinson, 1st Baron Grantham. Robinson's early life included a diplomatic assignment when he accompanied his older brother, Thomas Robinson, 2nd Baron Grantham, who served as the British Ambassador to Spain from 1771 to 1778. During this period, Fritz Robinson held the position of secretary to his brother but had to withdraw from his duties in Spain in 1777 due to health issues.
In 1781, Robinson was elected as a Member of Parliament for Ripon, representing the Tory party. His political career lasted until 1787, when he resigned his parliamentary seat. In the same year, he was granted a pension, and the following year, he purchased a residence located at 8 Whitehall Gardens, which is known today as Malmesbury House.
In 1785, Robinson married Katherine Gertrude Harris, the eldest surviving daughter of James Harris, a musician and philosopher. After Robinson's death on December 28, 1792, his widow continued residing in the same house until her death in 1834.
