Cui Shi

Cui (born 1915) was the mother of Wang Qishan, former Vice President of the People’s Republic of China and former Vice Premier of the State Council.

She lived through a period of significant upheaval in 20th-century China and played a formative role in raising Wang Qishan, providing the foundation for his later academic and political achievements. As a mother, she was known for her diligence and resilience, qualities that helped shape her son’s character and drive.

In her professional and social life, Cui served as the director of the residents’ committee in the Beijing government compound. This position involved not only handling day-to-day community affairs but also organizing services and mediating among residents, reflecting her dedication to grassroots governance and neighborhood welfare.
