Introduction
Zhu Yue’e, Ming Dynasty Shu Wang, was born in 1397 and died in 1461 at the age of sixty-six. His father was Xian Wang Zhu Chun, and his mother was a court lady. Zhu Yue’e was a grandson of Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang. In 1404, the second year of the Yongle reign, he was granted the title of Baoning Wang (King of Baoning). His nephew, Shu Xi Wang Zhu Youxun, died without heirs; Zhu Yue’e’s elder brother, Huayang Daoyin Wang Zhu Yueyao, had a son, Huayang Wang Zhu Youji, but due to Zhu Yueyao’s misconduct, his family was relocated to Lizhou, resulting in the loss of the inheritance rights for Shu Wang. In 1435, the tenth year of the Xuande reign, Zhu Yue’e was posthumously promoted to Shu Wang. Zhu Youji once petitioned with objections but was not approved; Emperor Xianzong of Ming only ordered Zhu Yue’e to provide silver to aid his son Zhu Youji’s impoverished circumstances. During his reign, Zhu Yue’e emphasized frugality and observance of etiquette and law, earning him the reputation of a virtuous king. In 1461, he passed away, and the following year, his son Zhu Yougai succeeded him as Ding Wang (King Ding). Zhu Yue’e had several descendants, including Neijiang Zhuangyi Wang Zhu Youfan, Deyang Xi'an Wang Zhu Youge, Shiquan Rongmu Wang Zhu Youli, Wenchuan Yijian Wang Zhu Youhe, and Qingfu Gongxi Wang Zhu Youbiao.
