Subsequently, he served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1987 until 1992. He contributed to Jimmy Carter's gubernatorial campaigns in Georgia during 1966 and 1970.
Langford was a member of the Georgia State Transportation Board from 1993 until his death in 1996.
He passed away on April 14, 1996, at Blaircliff Haven Nursing Home in Atlanta, Georgia.
