James Beverly Langford

James Beverly Langford was born on April 11, 1922, in Calhoun, Georgia. He completed his secondary education at Calhoun High School. During World War II, he served in the United States Army. Following his military service, Langford attended the University of Georgia School of Law, where he earned his law degree in 1947.

After graduation, Langford practiced law in Calhoun, Georgia. In addition to his legal career, he was involved in banking and engaged in cattle raising activities. He also served on the local school board in Calhoun.

In the political realm, James Beverly Langford was affiliated with the Democratic Party. He served as a member of the Georgia Senate from 1973 to 1980. Subsequently, he served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1987 until 1992. He contributed to Jimmy Carter's gubernatorial campaigns in Georgia during 1966 and 1970.

Langford was a member of the Georgia State Transportation Board from 1993 until his death in 1996.

He passed away on April 14, 1996, at Blaircliff Haven Nursing Home in Atlanta, Georgia.

Family details indicate that his wife was Edna Snyder Langford. His grandson, Jason Carter, also served in the Georgia General Assembly. Jason Carter’s parents are Jack Carter, the son of President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter, and Judy Langford Carter, the daughter of James Beverly Langford and Edna Snyder Langford.
