Wells Ely

Wells Ely, born approximately in 1729 in Lyme, Connecticut, and deceased around September 1, 1804, was the ancestor of a lineage that includes Dorothy Ayer Gardner Ford, mother of the 38th President of the United States, Gerald Ford. His daughter was Amy Ely, born on July 11, 1777, in Lyme, Connecticut, and she passed away on October 31, 1876, in Chicago, Illinois. Amy Ely's daughter was Elizabeth Ely Gridley, born June 16, 1826, in Clinton, New York, and died December 22, 1921. Elizabeth's daughter was Amy Gridley Butler (1848–1916).
